All righty, we're back. Okay, it

seems like a lost art doesn't

it? Cursive writing. Well now

students in California will have

it back in their curriculum

starting this fall under a new

law, it will be required for

students in first through sixth

grades. Cursive writing was

discontinued at most schools in

2010. In California and 39 other

states, not to mention teachers

say. The cursive writing,

though, helps with fine motor

skills and it allows the ability

to be able to read older

documents and writing. That's

true. And in case you're

wondering, Texas brought back

cursive for all elementary

students in 2019. In the 2019

2020 school year, which I think

is awesome, it was also the

pandemic year. So I'm trying to

think back because my kids over

zoom, they were learning how to.

Well, yeah, my daughter was in

third. My oldest was in third

grade at the time, and I think

the pandemic hit like right as

the cursive unit was supposed to

begin. Yeah. So they kind of

missed out. They do love showing

me how they can write in

cursive. They're like, are they

good? Look at my name. I mean,

it's not it's not like totally

accurate. I'm like, well, that's

or, you know, but they do enjoy

it. It's reading it that's

harder. And like that's a good

point. You got to you got to

know how to read cursive

eventually. Well I think I think

kids are too used to like the

shortened language of texting.

Yes. And they need to learn to

write things out and how to

write a nice note and have it be

legible. Do you still write in

cursive? I do, yes. Yeah. I'm

like half print, half cursive.

Yeah. I still have like I have a

calendar that I write everything
