      <p xml:id="subtitle7" begin="00:00:18.400" end="00:00:20.770">starting this fall under a new</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle8" begin="00:00:20.770" end="00:00:22.040">law, it will be required for</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle9" begin="00:00:22.040" end="00:00:24.200">students in first through sixth</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle10" begin="00:00:24.200" end="00:00:26.410">grades. Cursive writing was</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle11" begin="00:00:26.410" end="00:00:27.410">discontinued at most schools in</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle12" begin="00:00:27.410" end="00:00:28.610">2010. In California and 39 other</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle13" begin="00:00:28.610" end="00:00:31.040">states, not to mention teachers</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle14" begin="00:00:31.040" end="00:00:32.150">say. The cursive writing,</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle15" begin="00:00:32.150" end="00:00:34.150">though, helps with fine motor</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle16" begin="00:00:34.150" end="00:00:35.210">skills and it allows the ability</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle17" begin="00:00:35.210" end="00:00:36.620">to be able to read older</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle18" begin="00:00:36.620" end="00:00:38.220">documents and writing. That&apos;s</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle19" begin="00:00:38.220" end="00:00:41.990">true. And in case you&apos;re</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle20" begin="00:00:41.990" end="00:00:43.590">wondering, Texas brought back</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle21" begin="00:00:43.590" end="00:00:46.530">cursive for all elementary</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle22" begin="00:00:46.530" end="00:00:47.690">students in 2019. In the 2019</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle23" begin="00:00:47.690" end="00:00:49.960">2020 school year, which I think</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle24" begin="00:00:49.960" end="00:00:51.160">is awesome, it was also the</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle25" begin="00:00:51.160" end="00:00:52.800">pandemic year. So I&apos;m trying to</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle26" begin="00:00:52.800" end="00:00:54.330">think back because my kids over</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle27" begin="00:00:54.330" end="00:00:56.170">zoom, they were learning how to.</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle28" begin="00:00:56.170" end="00:00:58.270">Well, yeah, my daughter was in</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle29" begin="00:00:58.270" end="00:00:59.470">third. My oldest was in third</p>

      <p xml:id="subtitle31" begin="00:01:00.470" end="00:01:01.640">the pandemic hit like right as</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle32" begin="00:01:01.640" end="00:01:03.340">the cursive unit was supposed to</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle33" begin="00:01:03.340" end="00:01:04.640">begin. Yeah. So they kind of</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle34" begin="00:01:04.640" end="00:01:06.450">missed out. They do love showing</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle35" begin="00:01:06.450" end="00:01:07.980">me how they can write in</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle36" begin="00:01:07.980" end="00:01:08.920">cursive. They&apos;re like, are they</p>
      <p xml:id="subtitle37" begin="00:01:08.920" end="00:01:10.720">good? Look at my name. I mean,</p>
